Survey-based family and children's programs open for participation through CultureMoa platform

According to SayArt on August 4, the Gyeonggi Arts Center has launched crowdfunding for "A Special Class for Today," a participatory arts education project designed with input from Gyeonggi Province residents.

The project introduces a model in which residents contribute to the planning process before participants are recruited through crowdfunding. Unlike conventional arts education programs planned solely by institutions, the initiative incorporates public feedback from the needs assessment stage through program participation.

The center conducted a public survey in June to identify preferred themes and areas of interest. Based on the results, it developed two programs aimed at families and children.

The first program, "Talk Concert with Music: Understanding Your Child's Mind," will be held on August 22 at the center's small theater. The event will feature a lecture by parenting education specialist Choi Min Jun alongside a vocal ensemble performance. Crowdfunding participants will receive admission tickets. Funding for the program will remain open until 5 p.m. on August 18.

The second program, "Children's Musical Experience Workshop," is scheduled for September 5. Designed for first through fourth grade elementary school students, it will allow participants to learn singing, choreography and character performance while experiencing the process of creating a stage production. Enrollment is limited to 20 participants on a first-come, first-served basis. Crowdfunding will continue until 5 p.m. on August 31.

The Gyeonggi Arts Center said the project was designed to reflect public opinion from the planning stage through participation. The organization plans to expand demand-based arts education content through similar initiatives in the future.

Crowdfunding for each program is available through the Gyeonggi cultural crowdfunding platform CultureMoa. The effectiveness of the participatory education model is expected to be assessed after the programs are completed.
