First release under RBW arrives after a 16-month break, with plans for ballads, songwriting and a full-length album

Kwon Eun-bi will release her new digital single “DEJAVU” at 6 p.m. on Sept. 3. It is her first release since signing with RBW in April and her first new music in approximately 16 months.

“DEJAVU” is a disco-pop track built around a rhythmic bass line and guitar arrangement. The song compares an immediate sense of familiarity with someone new to the experience of déjà vu.

The project is structured around three keywords: cliché, classic and closet. It begins with the familiar public image associated with Kwon before moving through the tastes she has retained and the qualities she has developed over time.

In an interview held in Seoul on Aug. 31, Kwon said she does not intend to reject the “Waterbomb” and “summer queen” images associated with her. Instead, she plans to add other musical identities to them.

Kwon said she remains grateful for the wider recognition she gained through festival performances. She added, however, that the focus on her performance style and appearance strengthened her desire to be evaluated for her music.

With “DEJAVU,” she sought to reflect the brighter and more natural side of her personality while introducing a dreamier atmosphere than the concepts used in much of her previous solo work.

Kwon plans to expand beyond performance-focused dance tracks into genres including ballads. She is also preparing to take a larger role in writing lyrics for future releases and to incorporate more of her own experiences into her music.

She said her decision to join RBW was based on the company’s approach to album production and long-term artist development. Kwon signed with the agency after meeting with several companies.

The singer is currently preparing her next project and aims to release music twice a year. She is also considering a larger-format record, including a potential studio album, after a series of digital singles.

Kwon also said members of IZ*ONE have discussed the possibility of reuniting when the group reaches its 10th anniversary in 2028. No schedule or formal reunion plan has been announced.

Kwon is expected to promote “DEJAVU” on music programs for approximately three weeks.
