The Seoul Museum of History (Director Choi Byung Gu) announced on the 8th the launch of its special exhibition Drawing a Joyful Heart at the Dilkusha–Albert Taylor House, a branch museum. The exhibition will run until November 23, 2025, offering visitors a unique blend of historical significance and contemporary art.

Located in Haengchon-dong, Jongno District, Dilkusha is steeped in cultural and historical resonance. The name "Dilkusha," derived from Persian, translates to "joyful heart." The residence was constructed in 1924 by Albert W. Taylor, an Associated Press correspondent, and his wife. The Taylors lived there until 1942, with the house standing as a testament to their enduring connection to Korea during a turbulent period in history.

The exhibition is a collaboration with Urban Sketchers, a global community of artists dedicated to on-location sketching. Showcasing works by Seoul-based members of the group, Drawing a Joyful Heart offers a contemporary interpretation of Dilkusha’s legacy. Visitors will experience a visual journey through intricate sketches that capture the essence of the house and its historical surroundings.

Albert Taylor’s story adds depth to the exhibit. As a correspondent, Taylor chronicled key moments of Korea’s modern history, and his residence became a symbol of cross-cultural connection.
