YG Entertainment announced on Tuesday that tickets for 2NE1’s highly anticipated concert in October sold out rapidly, following an overwhelming response from fans. The label revealed that over 400,000 concurrent users logged on to purchase tickets, leading to a swift sell-out.
The concert, scheduled to take place on October 5-6 in Seoul, marks the veteran girl group’s return to the stage after an eight-year hiatus. Dubbed “Welcome Back,” the event celebrates the 15th anniversary of 2NE1’s debut and signifies their first major performance since their disbandment in 2016.
Following their Seoul performances, 2NE1 will extend their tour to Japan, with shows planned in Tokyo and Kobe. The group has also indicated that additional tour destinations will be announced in the near future.
2NE1 has been a pioneering force in the K-pop industry, known for their groundbreaking achievements. They were the first Korean female group to embark on an international tour, with their first world tour in 2012 covering nine cities across five countries. Their second world tour in 2014 expanded to 16 cities in 12 countries, further cementing their status as trailblazers in the genre.
