Actor Kim Moo Jun has been cast in the upcoming Japanese drama Caster, marking his second appearance in a TBS production.
On the 5th, 9ato Entertainment announced, "Kim Moo Jun has confirmed his role in TBS’s Caster, following his performance in Black Pean 2. This marks a significant step in his journey as a global actor."
Caster is set in the newsroom of the fictional broadcaster JBN News Gate. The drama follows journalists and media professionals who pursue truth in the shadows while seeking justice against corruption.
Kim will play Choi Jae Sung, an assistant director (AD) at the newsroom. His character is a Korean national who studied in Japan, offering a perspective that bridges both cultures. The role is expected to add depth to the narrative by incorporating a cross-cultural viewpoint.
This is Kim's second Japanese drama appearance. He made his Japanese debut last year in Black Pean 2, portraying a Korean surgical intern. His performance was well received, highlighting his ability to take on diverse roles in international productions.
In Caster, he will work alongside prominent Japanese actors, including Hiroshi Abe, who leads the series as Shindo Soichiro. The cast also features Mei Nagano and Shunsuke Michieda, further raising anticipation for the drama.
Kim first gained recognition in South Korea for his portrayal of Crown Prince Sohyeon in My Dearest. He later appeared in I Am Sorry Again Today and is set to star in the upcoming SBS drama Is It a Coincidence?.
Meanwhile, Caster is set to premiere next month, drawing attention as Kim continues his expansion into the Japanese entertainment industry.
