Photography company VSCO has introduced a new automated studio management platform called VSCO Workspace, designed specifically to help photographers manage their businesses more efficiently. The launch coincides with World Photography Day and represents the company's continued effort to support professional photographers with comprehensive business tools.
VSCO Workspace builds upon the foundation of Táve's Studio Manager, which VSCO acquired earlier this year. The new platform integrates Studio Manager's existing Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system while adding enhanced features to provide photographers with greater functionality and scalability. The acquisition and subsequent development demonstrate VSCO's commitment to expanding beyond photo editing into comprehensive business support.
"At VSCO, we are focused on supporting photographers at every stage of their journey, from casual to professional," said Eric Wittman, VSCO's CEO. "With Workspace, we are deepening our commitment to working creators and making it easier for them to manage and grow their business, so they can focus more time and energy on doing what they love."
The platform promises to help photographers and event professionals book more clients while saving time and managing their studios more effectively. VSCO Workspace enables clients to schedule consultations, meetings, and photography sessions directly through the system. Meanwhile, photographers can automate crucial business processes that typically consume significant time and energy.
Key automation features include intake questionnaires, automatic follow-up emails, appointment reminders, and client communication workflows. The platform also incorporates business growth tools such as upselling capabilities for photography services, automated invoicing systems, and pre-filled, customizable contracts that can be sent directly to clients. These features aim to streamline the administrative burden that often overwhelms creative professionals.
Additional functionality includes detailed business reports, lead tracking systems, payment monitoring, and a dedicated client portal. These tools are designed to help photography businesses focus primarily on their creative work rather than getting bogged down in essential but time-consuming business tasks. The comprehensive approach addresses many pain points that photographers face when trying to scale their operations.
Ben Chrisman from Chrisman Studios, a long-time user of the original Táve Studio Manager system, praised the platform's reliability. "With all the ups and downs of running a photography business, there's one thing we've never had to worry about and that is our CRM, VSCO Workspace. It just works with everything we need," Chrisman explained. He expressed enthusiasm about the platform's future development, adding, "We're excited about where VSCO Workspace is headed, and we hope to have another 15 years of it being the brain for everything we've yet to photograph, which is a pretty exciting thought."
This launch represents part of VSCO's broader strategy to support professional photographers through multiple initiatives. Last month, the company acquired The Freelance Photographer, an online educational platform that provides photographers with resources to build successful professional careers. In May 2024, VSCO also launched Hub, which the company described as "LinkedIn for photographers," creating networking opportunities within the creative community.
CEO Wittman emphasized VSCO's long-term vision for supporting the photography industry. "Our vision is to give photographers and creators more economic opportunities with VSCO and we are just getting started," he stated, indicating that additional tools and services may be forthcoming.
To celebrate both the VSCO Workspace launch and World Photography Day, the company is offering photographers a 30-day free trial of the platform. Additionally, users can access the "Attract Paying Clients" workshop from The Freelance Photographer by using the promotional code "VSCO." This limited-time offer allows photographers to explore the platform's capabilities without initial financial commitment while gaining access to valuable business education resources.
