JYP Entertainment is set to give back to the community by organizing a basketball charity event to support medical treatment for underprivileged children. The event, named JYP Basketball Tournament (JYPBT), will take place over four days—November 30, December 1, 7, and 8—at Yonsei University Gymnasium in Seodaemun, Seoul.
The tournament will feature 27 amateur basketball teams, including prominent domestic basketball clubs such as "Owls," "Black Label," "J Crew," and "BPM." Adding to the excitement, the finals on December 8 will include special events such as the JYP Challenge, where JYP artists and professional basketball players will team up. These teams will compete to score the highest points within a set time, with donations made under the winning team's name.
JYP’s Chief Producer Park Jin Young will participate in the event, alongside basketball enthusiasts such as Jeong Jin Woon, Kim Tae Woo, and Yoo Hee Gwan. The celebrity-filled 5-on-5 matches promise to deliver a unique and entertaining experience for the audience.
All participation fees collected from the basketball teams will be donated in full to Samsung Medical Center to fund treatment for children from underprivileged backgrounds. JYP Entertainment will further contribute additional funds, emphasizing its commitment to social responsibility.
The tournament is supported by Wilson, the official sponsor, who will provide NBA-approved basketballs, team uniforms, and commemorative items. Wilson will also make a financial contribution to amplify the event's charitable impact.
The event is open to the public for free at Yonsei University Gymnasium, with the finals and other special matches to be live-streamed on the JYPBT YouTube channel. Esteemed basketball commentators, including Jo Hyun Il, Kim Eun Hye, Jeong Yong Gum, Kim Il Doo, and Han Jang Hee, will provide live analysis, enhancing the experience for both on-site and online audiences.
This initiative is part of JYP’s broader CSR framework, built around the Every Dream Matters! (EDM) campaign. The campaign underscores JYP’s commitment to making a meaningful contribution to society by giving back the love and support it receives from fans worldwide.
