IVE will pre-release “Looks Can Kill,” the title track from its forthcoming mini album of the same name, on Oct. 19.
According to Starship Entertainment, the song will become available through major music platforms at 6 p.m. The complete Looks Can Kill EP is scheduled for release on Oct. 26.
The album expands the “girl fantasy” concept IVE has developed through its previous releases. While retaining the group’s recurring theme of self-confidence, the new project introduces a “girl hero” identity.
Rather than relying on supernatural abilities, the album defines a hero as someone capable of exerting influence through their presence and decisions. Its central message is that anyone can become the protagonist and hero of their own life.
The title track continues IVE’s emphasis on directing one’s life without being controlled by external judgment. It is an electronic dance-pop song built around a heavy bass line, dynamic drum beats and layered electronic sounds.
Seo Ji-eum, rapper Lil Cherry and IVE member Rei participated in writing the lyrics.
Ahead of the song’s release, IVE unveiled a set of “HERO ON SET” concept photographs on Oct. 18. The six members appear in outfits incorporating individual colours assigned to their respective hero identities.
The styling and poses highlight each member’s character while introducing the visual direction of the new album.
IVE’s mini album Looks Can Kill will be released in full on Oct. 26.
