Artist Luke Park is presenting his solo exhibition Ventilation at Gallery TYA in Seoul’s Seochon district through Oct. 25.
The exhibition revisits images and techniques from Park’s previous work, interpreting them from his current perspective. Brushstrokes left on paper suggest sprouts, flower petals, splashing water and dense forests.
Areas where paint gathers heavily sit alongside lighter washes and unpainted spaces. Rather than depicting specific landscapes, the works allow natural forms to emerge through variations in colour, density and movement.
The title Ventilation reflects Park’s attempt to look back on the time accumulated through his practice while creating room for a temporary pause. The exhibition invites visitors to encounter the works at an unhurried pace, similar to walking through a natural landscape.
One of the exhibited works, Forest, is also being offered through an online auction organised by TYA INDEX. The work remains on view at the gallery, allowing potential bidders to examine it in person before deciding whether to participate.
TYA selects certain works from its exhibitions for online auctions accompanied by information about the artist and the artwork. Bidding for Forest opened at 2 p.m. on Oct. 16 and will close at 4 p.m. on Oct. 25.
Ventilation runs through Oct. 25 at Gallery TYA, located at 28 Jahamun-ro 5-gil in Jongno District, Seoul. The gallery is open from noon to 6 p.m. from Wednesday through Sunday and is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
