The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA) announced to SayArt on Aug. 7 that "Stubborn Rocks, Reckless Struggles," a new installation by Christine Sun Kim, is on view at Seoul Box in MMCA Seoul through Nov. 29.

The exhibition is the second presentation in the MMCA × LG OLED Series, a long-term collaboration between MMCA and LG Electronics. The program invites one artist each year to create a site-specific work for Seoul Box, exploring new exhibition formats that combine contemporary art with advanced display technology.

Christine Sun Kim is known for translating language and sound into visual forms. Her practice employs lines, symbols, and text to examine movement, dialogue, and tension while investigating how language shapes social relationships and systems of power.

Created specifically for Seoul Box, the installation incorporates OLED displays into the venue's open architectural environment. Visitors experience the work by moving through a space where visual images and language interact across multiple perspectives.

The exhibition takes its title from recurring conflicts and unresolved arguments. Through the installation, the artist reflects on polarization and repeated confrontation in digital and online environments. The "rock" functions as a metaphor for both uncompromising individuals and the fixed structures that shape communication and social relationships.

According to MMCA, the exhibition encourages visitors to consider communication not as a final outcome but as an ongoing process in which differences and relationships continue to evolve.

The exhibition is presented free of charge at Seoul Box on the basement level of MMCA Seoul. It runs from July 31 through Nov. 29, 2026.
