Legendary K-pop boy band Big Bang will launch a world tour this year to mark the 20th anniversary of its debut, YG Entertainment announced Wednesday.
“We have agreed with the members of Big Bang to hold the event,” YG Entertainment founder and chief producer Yang Hyun-suk said in a video message. “We have worked together for such a long time that we don’t expect any difficulties.”
If the tour begins as planned, it will mark Big Bang’s first global trek in nine years since its 2017 “Last Dance” tour. Further details, including dates and venues, were not disclosed.
Yang also outlined upcoming releases from the agency’s artists. Girl group BabyMonster will release an EP in May, followed by a second full-length album in the autumn. The EP’s lead single will be titled “Choom,” and the group is set to embark on its second world tour in June.
Boy band Treasure will return in June with a new EP featuring a hip-hop concept. According to Yang, the members requested the genre shift themselves. “You will be surprised that Treasure can pull off this kind of music,” he said, adding that the group will present a “very cool, YG-style” sound.
YG Entertainment, which marks its 30th anniversary this year, also plans to debut a new boy band by autumn.
