The National Theater of Korea will hold its autumn “Ssokssokdeuri Festival” at the Performing Arts Support Center in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, on Oct. 24.
The festival will take place free of charge in the centre’s outdoor plaza in the Heyri area. Its program is designed for children, families, couples and other visitors.
A bubble performance and magic show for children will open the event.
The main program includes “Hello, Mr. Seed!,” a large-scale puppet production featuring a four-metre-tall giant named Mr. Seed. In the story, the character works with a wind fairy and members of the audience to make a flower bloom.
The Seoul Performing Arts Company will present selected songs and scenes from “A Thousand Blues Concert.” Based on Cheon Seon Ran’s novel, the original musical production explores hope and consolation through relationships among humans, robots and animals.
Live music will be provided by acoustic band Shinnaneun Seom and Boom Beat Brass Band. The contemporary dance production “Darkness Pumba” is also included in the program.
Makeup and musical-instrument experience zones will be installed around the plaza, along with photo areas intended to give visitors several ways to engage with the performing arts.
