South Korean singer IU has once again demonstrated her commitment to giving back, this time by making a heartwarming donation to mark Christmas. The Korea Association for Children with Rare and Incurable Diseases announced on December 11 through a banner on its official website that IU had made a substantial contribution, stating, "Merry Christmas. IU supports children and families with rare and incurable diseases."
IU donated a total of 50 million KRW (approximately $38,000 USD) in Christmas support funds. The contribution, prepared in the form of gift vouchers, will be distributed to families facing financial hardships during the holiday season. The funds aim to alleviate some of the burdens these families endure and bring a touch of joy to their lives.
Known by her fans as a "donation angel," IU has consistently been recognized for her philanthropic efforts since her debut. In September of this year, she made headlines with a generous donation of 250 million KRW (approximately USD 190,000) to commemorate her 16th anniversary in the entertainment industry.
Her September contributions were allocated to various organizations supporting vulnerable groups, including children with illnesses and underserved communities. Beneficiaries included the Korea Association for Children with Rare and Incurable Diseases, the Elderly Well-Being Milk Delivery Association, Hansarang Village, and Hansarang Infant Care Center.
IU’s acts of kindness have become a hallmark of her career, extending beyond her music to leave a lasting impact on communities in need. Fans and the public alike continue to applaud her efforts, recognizing her as a role model who uses her influence to create meaningful change.
As IU’s donation this Christmas aims to bring light and hope to struggling families, her legacy of giving back serves as a reminder of the powerful impact celebrities can have when they use their platforms for good.
