BTS has achieved a historic milestone by surpassing 1 billion plays on Melon, one of South Korea's largest music streaming platforms, with their 2017 hit song "Spring Day," as announced by the company on Tuesday. This makes "Spring Day" the first song to reach this landmark on Melon, earning BTS the prestigious Billions Bronze Club badge from the platform.
"Spring Day" was the lead track on the repackaged album "You Never Walk Alone," which followed the release of BTS's second studio album "Wings" in February 2017. The R&B track has demonstrated remarkable staying power, maintaining its position on Melon’s charts continuously since its debut.
The song's popularity extends beyond South Korea. Last year, "Spring Day" topped iTunes' Top Songs chart in 83 regions and also led Oricon’s daily digital single ranking. Furthermore, it secured the No. 5 spot on Billboard’s Digital Song Sales chart. Notably, it achieved this while the band members were serving in the military, marking almost six years since "Spring Day" first broke onto Billboard’s Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart at No. 15.
BTS's accomplishment with "Spring Day" highlights their enduring global influence and the lasting appeal of their music. The record underscores BTS’s significant impact on the music industry and their continued success in the digital age.
