The creators of the highly successful film "12.12: The Day," which amassed 12.8 million viewers as of Thursday, are set to continue the narrative with a new film exploring the disbandment of the military organization Hanahoe.

Hive Media Corp, the production company behind "12.12: The Day" directed by Kim Sung-su, is currently in the process of developing a film titled "YS Project" (working title). The upcoming movie will delve into the story of former president Kim Young-sam's efforts to dissolve the military group known as Hanahoe.

President Kim Young-sam, who assumed office as the 14th president of Korea in February 1993, initiated the dismantling of Hanahoe and the removal of individuals associated with the group from positions of power.

"YS Project" aims to dramatize the untold story of the Kim government and the fall of Hanahoe. The film's script is currently in progress, with screenwriter Hong In-pyo, who contributed to the screenplay of "12.12: The Day," exploring various options with Hive Media Corp.

A spokesperson for Hive Media Corp confirmed that "YS Project" is one of several works in progress at the company.

"12.12: The Day," featuring actors Hwang Jung-min, Jung Woo-sung, Lee Sung-min, Park Hae-joon, and Kim Sung-kyun, achieved significant success, becoming one of the two films from the previous year to surpass the 10 million viewer milestone. The film has also grossed over $1 million in North America.
