Hyundai Motor Company has announced a collaboration with the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) to present a groundbreaking exhibition by renowned contemporary artist Tavares Strachan. This partnership represents the latest chapter in the South Korean automaker's ongoing cultural collaboration with one of America's most prestigious art institutions.

The highly anticipated exhibition, titled "Tavares Strachan: The Day Tomorrow Began," is scheduled to open on October 12, 2025, and will run through March 29, 2026. This marks a significant milestone as it will be the Bahamas-born artist's first major museum exhibition in Los Angeles, bringing his internationally acclaimed work to the West Coast for an extended six-month showcase.

According to Hyundai's announcement, the exhibition will delve deep into overlooked and deliberately erased historical narratives, with particular emphasis on stories related to the Black diaspora. Strachan's multidisciplinary approach will be on full display through an impressive array of artistic mediums including sculpture, painting, textual works, and musical compositions. The diverse range of artistic expressions reflects the artist's commitment to exploring complex historical themes through various creative channels.

Visitors to the exhibition can expect to be immersed in carefully crafted environments that range from eerily familiar everyday scenes to completely surreal and otherworldly landscapes. These immersive installations are specifically designed to challenge visitors' preconceptions about which historical narratives receive recognition and celebration, while also questioning the methods and perspectives through which these stories are traditionally presented to the public.

The partnership between Hyundai Motor and LACMA represents a decade-long commitment to supporting the arts, having been established in 2015. Throughout this collaboration, Hyundai has consistently supported not only major exhibitions but also crucial art research initiatives and comprehensive artist development programs. This sustained support has helped foster emerging talent and bring world-class exhibitions to Los Angeles audiences.

Choi Doo-eun, art director at Hyundai Motor, expressed the company's enthusiasm for supporting Strachan's work, stating, "Through our partnership with LACMA, we are honored to be part of the journey of Tavares Strachan, who invites us to reflect on the potential of narratives as a lasting force for inclusivity and transformation." This statement underscores Hyundai's commitment to promoting art that addresses social issues and encourages meaningful dialogue about historical representation and cultural understanding.
