Drawing performance and projection mapping return after North American tour

Following a series of overseas performances, Doodle Pop returns to a Korean stage. Audience response and box office results will become clearer during the Seoul engagement.

The family production Doodle Pop will begin a new performance season at Seoul Sangsang Nara Theater on August 1.

On July 22, SayArt confirmed that the production will run through September 20. Doodle Pop is a multimedia family performance that combines live drawing with projection mapping technology.

The work premiered at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in the United Kingdom in 2018. Since then, it has been presented in countries including the United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States. During the first half of this year, the production completed a tour across 20 cities in North America.

The story follows two playful characters, Wooki and Booki, together with a small turtle on a sea adventure. Live illustration and media art are used throughout the performance to visualize the narrative.

A 4.8-meter-wide and 2.2-meter-high whiteboard serves as the main stage element. Performers create drawings in real time while projection mapping transforms the illustrations into animated visual scenes.

Mime performance, live music, and sound design are integrated into the production. The performance relies primarily on visual storytelling and music rather than spoken dialogue.

Producer Brosi Theatre stated that Doodle Pop has continued to meet children and family audiences through performances in multiple countries. The overall reception of the Seoul production is expected to be assessed after the performance run concludes.
