BLACKPINK member LISA has released “SaWaDiKa,” the first single from her forthcoming EP “PRESS PLAY.”
The track became available in South Korea at 9 a.m. on Sept. 4. The full EP is scheduled for release on Oct. 23.
Its stylised title is derived from “sawasdee ka,” a Thai greeting used by female speakers. Built around bass-heavy hip-hop production, the song places LISA’s rapping at the centre.
Directed by Bang Jae-yeob, the accompanying music video was filmed in LISA’s hometown of Bangkok. It follows her performance across several locations in the Thai capital, including a Muay Thai ring and urban streets.
LISA will also appear in the feature-length documentary “Always Lalisa,” directed by Sue Kim. The film follows a pivotal period in which she temporarily steps away from BLACKPINK’s group schedule to develop her solo music, pursue acting and build her independent career.
The documentary will make its world premiere in the Gala programme of the 51st Toronto International Film Festival, which runs from Sept. 10–20. It will begin a limited worldwide run in cinemas and IMAX on Oct. 12 before becoming available on YouTube Premium later this year.
In November, LISA will stage her first solo Las Vegas residency, “VIVA LA LISA,” at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. The four performances are scheduled for Nov. 13, 14, 27 and 28. Caesars Entertainment has described her as the first K-pop artist to mount a Las Vegas residency.
