One AND J. Gallery participated in Expo Chicago, one of the largest art fairs in the United States and one of the three major art fairs around the world, along with three Korean artists.
Considered to be the most influential art fair in the world, the art fair is held in the Midwest of the United States and functions as a venue to introduce artists from all over the world, including the United States, Latin America, and Asia.
There are a total of three Korean artists participating in the event with ONE And J. Gallery: Jong OH, Ahnnlee Lee, and Soyoung Chung, who showed off major works at the booth.
Jong OH is an artist who closely observes the space and pays attention to the architectural characteristics of the space and the subtle traces of how it is used. He communicates with the space in this way and studies the reverberation of sounds in the space.
The artist claims to feel a low reverberation in every space and experiments with the manipulation of geometric elements in one-dimensional lines, two-dimensional planes, and even three-dimensional with simple materials such as threads, wood and iron bars, pencil lines, and chains.
Ahnnlee Lee moves between painting and installation, sometimes expressing inspiration through writing poems or reciting. The artist enjoys a world composed of small events and on the whole, they create a common destiny and a transformed mechanism that lies within himself.
The artist's works give the impression of being in his studio. As he navigates the ground, he views the entire space by utilizing or highlighting the specific characteristics of the place, such as small cracks in walls, peeled paint, and the texture and nail marks of bricks or cement.
Soyoung Chung creates works by contemplating philosophical questions about the time that many subjects surrounding our lives have passed. She came to imagine Earth's time through stones one day and later began to pay attention to geology and geopolitics.
She put out her works after a long period of thought to face the geological elements that extend from the soil to the continent, from the horizon to the border, from the city to the island, and the realm of oceanography where humans do not exist.
Meanwhile, 170 galleries representing 75 cities from 29 countries participated in the art fair and successfully conducted various performances, educational programs, and curations.
