The Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation is presenting a comprehensive retrospective exhibition titled "Harry Gruyaert. A World in Colour," running through January 25, 2026. This ambitious showcase represents the most complete presentation of Gruyaert's work ever displayed in Germany, featuring approximately 120 images spanning from the 1970s to the early 2000s.

The exhibition offers viewers a diverse range of Gruyaert's artistic evolution, including not only his celebrated travel photographs but also his early black-and-white works from his native Belgium and images from his notable "Rivages" series. This comprehensive selection provides insight into the photographer's development and artistic journey across multiple decades.

Throughout his distinguished career, Harry Gruyaert has created the majority of his substantial body of work across numerous countries including Egypt, India, Morocco, the United States, Russia, Spain, and France. His international perspective and extensive travels have contributed to the rich diversity of subjects and settings captured in his photography.

Gruyaert is renowned for his extraordinary sense of color composition and spatial arrangement, skillfully capturing both landscapes and urban scenes while emphasizing dramatic contrasts. His portfolio includes striking examples such as the impressive interplay of shadows and light in airport terminals, the intense yellow of a vintage American car, the vibrant colors of Moroccan streets, and the softer tones found in Belgian landscapes.
