Netflix has launched its new mystery reality show, "Agents of Mystery," featuring a diverse cast that includes prominent Korean comedians and K-pop idols. The show, which will emphasize a high degree of realism in its mystery-solving quests, was announced by the producer during a press conference held in Mapo-gu, Seoul, on Tuesday.
The cast of "Agents of Mystery" comprises singer John Park, actor Kim Do-hoon, comedians Lee Eun-ji and Lee Yong-jin, as well as K-pop idols Lee Hye-ri of Girl's Day and Yu Ji-min, better known as Karina of aespa. The six members work together to unravel various mysteries presented throughout the show.
The show is directed by Jung Jong-yeon, known for his work on other popular mystery reality series such as Tving's "High School Mystery Club" and tvN's "Great Escape." Jung highlighted that "Agents of Mystery" distinguishes itself from other similar shows by focusing more on the adventures of the cast rather than solely on solving problems.
"When directing mystery reality shows, I don't typically prioritize the act of solving mysteries," said Jung. "The essence of this show revolves around the cast members embarking on adventures, with solving mysteries being secondary."
Jung also emphasized that significant effort was put into creating an immersive experience for the cast, including attention to the visual aspects, the physical properties of the props, and other sensory details to enhance realism.
"Agents of Mystery" marks Yu Ji-min's debut as a main cast member in a reality show. She expressed her desire to showcase a different side of herself to the global audience, a side that even her fans have not seen before.
All six episodes of "Agents of Mystery" are now available for streaming on Netflix.
