According to local media reports on Tuesday, Taemin and Onew of SHINee have chosen not to renew their contracts with their long-time label, SM Entertainment. Going forward, the two members will let SM Entertainment handle only their group activities.
Taemin has plans to join Big Planet Entertainment, while Onew is still in the process of considering his future options. Despite parting ways with the label, both Taemin and Onew will continue their involvement in SHINee's collective endeavors.
Currently on their "Perfect Illumination" tour, the veteran idol band recently performed in Singapore to a sold-out crowd, marking their first appearance in the country in 12 years. The tour is set to resume in Hong Kong on March 16.
Onew, the group's leader, has been on a hiatus since June last year due to health reasons. Consequently, he was absent from the promotions for SHINee's eighth studio album, which also coincided with the celebration of the band's 15th anniversary since its debut, along with the corresponding tour.
