Veteran baseball coach Kim Sung Kun is set to experience his first true winter break in 64 years. The upcoming TVING original series The Best Baseball Spinoff: Kim Sung Kun’s Winter Break (최강야구 스핀오프, 김성근의 겨울방학) captures his rare moment of rest after a lifetime dedicated to the sport.

For the first time, Kim takes a step away from baseball—at least in theory. He spends this special winter vacation with Jung Keun Woo and other players from The Best Monsters, including Park Yong Taek, Lee Taek Keun, Lee Dae Ho, Yoo Hee Kwan, Shin Jae Young, Park Jae Wook, and Lim Sang Woo.

A main trailer for the series, released on February 3, offers a glimpse into this unexpected retreat. The footage highlights a different side of Kim and the players, showcasing moments of leisure. Kim is seen capturing photos of flowers with his phone, wearing a tangerine hat in amusement, and simply enjoying the rare downtime. The relaxed and unfiltered interactions between the team members add to the warmth and charm of the show.

However, even in the midst of his vacation, Kim's thoughts remain consumed by baseball. His passion proves relentless as he encounters young aspiring players during the trip, unable to resist offering them guidance. He even puts the accompanying players through impromptu training sessions, much to their dismay.

In a particularly telling moment, Kim picks up a fungo bat, reigniting his coaching instincts. Jung Keun Woo, overwhelmed by his mentor’s unyielding devotion to the game, exclaims in frustration, "Coach, can’t you just sit still for once?" His exasperated reaction encapsulates the never-ending cycle of Kim's baseball-driven life.

The series also unveiled its official poster, featuring Kim Sung Kun alongside Jung Keun Woo. Standing close beside Kim, Jung expresses doubt with the tagline, "Is this really a break?" In response, Kim simply retorts, "Want to take some fungo hits?"—a classic exchange reflecting their enduring mentor-student dynamic.

Kim Sung Kun’s Winter Break is set to premiere on February 17, promising a unique and heartwarming look at the legendary coach’s rare attempt at relaxation—if he can ever truly take a break from baseball.
