The oldest known figurative rock art, over 51,200 years old, was discovered in a Sulawesi cave, Indonesia by a team led by Adhi Agus Oktaviana.
The artwork depicts human-like figures hunting wild pigs and was dated using advanced uranium-series methods.
This finding surpasses the age of previous European Ice Age art and offers the earliest evidence of visual storytelling.
