Jung-man Kim's solo exhibition a year after his death in Switzerland.

Kim is one of the representative photographers of the Republic of Korea, who made his solo debut in the Atelier Jean-Pierre Soordi in Nice in 1975. After being born in Cheorwon, Gangwon Province in 1954, the artist moved to Burkina Faso, Africa with her father, who was a government doctor, After that studied Western painting at the National University of Applied Arts in Nice, France.
Since then, he has won the Young Artist Award at the ARLES International Photo Festival in France and received attention as the youngest artist in France's Today's Photography the same year.
The photographer made many achievements, especially in fashion photography. He won the Best Photo Award at the 2011 Korean Fashion Awards, where he worked with famous stars and also worked as a freelance photographer for famous French fashion magazines, including Vogue Elle.
Kim, who has kept records of numerous books and exhibitions, died in 2022 at the age of 68 while battling pneumonia. The exhibition is Kim's first solo exhibition in more than 40 years in Europe, which he had been preparing for until his death.
The exhibition will feature 35 pieces of Kim's signature work from 2006 to 2017. The exhibition will consist of "EAST," a series of records he left while traveling to Jeju Island, Mt. Baekdu, China, and Vietnam, and the "Tukbang Road" series featuring the embankment road in Jungnang Stream in Seoul.
"Kim's artistic journey, from commercial success to deep relationships with nature and culture, is beautifully summed up in this exhibition," said an official at Kulturstiftung Basel H. Gieger, where the exhibition will take place, along with the introduction of "a masterpiece of a peaceful artist."
The exhibition runs until Feb. 11 at Kulturstiftung Basel H. Geiger, located in Basel, Switzerland.
