Duo Faces Criticism for Title "GGB" Deemed Derogatory Toward Women

K-pop duo Super Junior-D&E has announced the cancellation of their upcoming song "GGB" from television music show performances following criticism over its title, which has been deemed derogatory toward women. The Korean title, "jijibae," is slang often used to belittle young girls. "GGB" serves as the lead track of the duo's fifth EP, "606," slated for release on March 26.

Ode Entertainment, the agency representing Super Junior-D&E, stated on Saturday that they have decided to cancel all planned television music program schedules in response to the backlash. The agency clarified that their intention was to depict an intimate relationship, and they did not intend to use the word in a negative light. However, they acknowledged the differing opinions and regretted the oversight.

Super Junior-D&E, a subunit of the boy band Super Junior comprising members Donghae and Eunhyuk, last released their first full-length album, "Countdown," in November 2021. The duo debuted with their digital single "Oppa, Oppa" in December 2011 and has since released several EPs and full-length albums, including "’Bout You" (2018), "Danger" (2019), and Japanese albums "Ride Me" (2014) and "Style" (2018).
