A sculpture recreating the Creature in the movie 'The Host' directed by Bong Joon-ho will be demolished for the first time in 10 years.
The sculpture was installed with a budget of 180 million won for tourism, but it has been criticized for harming the aesthetics of the city for the past decade.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government has launched a survey on the current status of the demolition, and after review, the demolition will proceed as early as the first half of this year.
An official from the Seoul Metropolitan Government explained, "The sculpture that can damage the aesthetics and cause safety accidents due to the serious aging is subject to demolition."
The demolition of the sculpture is expected to cost about 7 million won to 10 million won.
