SEOUL - The popular Korean drama series "Tale of the Nine Tailed" returns with a second season, titled "Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938," which takes viewers back in time to the Japanese colonial era of Korea. The series will premiere on May 6 on tvN, and will also be available on Tving and Amazon Prime Video.
Directed by Kang Shin-hyo, the second season brings back the beloved character of Lee Yeon, a shape-shifting nine-tailed fox played by Lee Dong-wook, who travels back in time with his memories intact. Unlike the previous season that focused on Lee Yeon's personal story, the new season will delve into the stories of both old and new characters.
The director shared that the new season includes thrilling action, mythical creatures and monsters from Korea and Japan, and the unknown stories of the characters. When asked about the choice of 1938, a painful period in Korea's history, the director explained that he tried to balance the mood of the series with the year.
Although the male lead character got married at the end of the first season, the director said that he prepared everything except for the male lead's romance for the new season. Actor Lee Dong-wook hinted that there is a specific reason for the lead's time travel but suggested viewers watch the series to find out.
