Continuing their meteoric rise in the K-pop landscape, H1-KEY, the celebrated girl group known for their hit "Rose Blossom," is poised to enrapture audiences once again with their latest release, "Seoul." Comprising a quartet of exceptionally talented members ― Seoi, Riina, Hwiseo, and Yel ― the group's second mini album, aptly titled "Seoul Dreaming," embarks on a journey to inspire dreamers around the world.
Fresh off the success of "Rose Blossom," which left an indelible mark on the music charts, H1-KEY is determined to perpetuate their streak of achievements with their return just seven months later. At a press event held at the Blue Square Mastercard Hall in Seoul on Wednesday, the group's leader, Seoi, expressed the album's central theme, sharing, "This album is dedicated to all the dreamers out there. The title track of this album is 'Seoul,' but it delivers a hopeful message for those who dream anywhere in the world."
Riina, another member of the quartet, delved deeper into the album's essence, stating, "While 'Rose Blossom' had a theme of strong resilience and pushing through challenges, 'Seoul' delivers a narrative of hope of turning the dream of this beautiful city into a reality, so I believe it will carry yet another meaning."
The profound impact of the title track extended to Yel, the youngest member of the group, who hails from Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province. She shared her personal connection with the song, revealing, "When I first heard this song, it brought back memories of moving to Seoul to chase my dream. I instantly felt that this title track was meant for me." Yel's emotional attachment to the song was evident as she added, "I had tears rolling down my face as I listened to this song at night."
Facing the continuation of "Rose Blossom's" popularity, the group conveyed their enthusiasm for showcasing their evolving artistry. Seoi highlighted their perspective, stating, "Rather than viewing the success of 'Rose Blossom' as pressure, we're thrilled to showcase a different aspect of ourselves. Our aim was to present diverse facets to our fans, and we've put in lots of effort to achieve just that."
H1-KEY's journey toward growth has been marked by standout appearances on Mnet's reality show "Queendom Puzzle," particularly by members Hwiseo and Riina. Hwiseo's victory in the final competition underscored her prowess and dedication to her craft.
Reflecting on their progress, Riina shared, "While getting ready for the show's performances, I've noticed a big improvement in how I prepare and carry out the stages. I tried to bring in a lot of what I've learned from that experience into our practices. Things like paying close attention to my performance details and delivering the lyrics more effectively."
As the press event concluded, the members of H1-KEY shared their aspirations for this new chapter. Seoi emphasized their musical identity, stating, "Our primary focus is on showcasing and solidifying our musical colors through 'Seoul Dreaming,'" with Hwiseo adding, "My honest aim is to clinch the top spot on music shows and broaden our horizons to include fan meetings, concerts, and global tours." As the group's trajectory continues its upward trajectory, H1-KEY remains poised to illuminate the K-pop landscape with their heartfelt messages and unparalleled talent.
