Song Joong-ki and Cast Members of "Hopeless" Express Excitement for Cannes Invitation

Director Kim Chang-hoon's Dark Noir Film to be Screened in Un Certain Regard Section

In a press release from Plus M Entertainment, the distributor for the upcoming film "Hopeless," Song Joong-ki and fellow cast members expressed their excitement for the movie's invitation to the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes International Film Festival this year. It marks Song's first invitation to the prestigious event.

Directed by Kim Chang-hoon, known for his short films "After the Sequence" and "Dance With My Mother," "Hopeless" is a dark noir that tells the story of Yeon-gyu, played by newcomer Hong Xa-bin, who desires to escape the harsh realities of his life. He meets Chi-geon, played by Song, and steps into the world of organized crime.

"It is an honor to be invited, and I am very excited," said Song in the press release. "Hopeless is a film that was made through the pure passion of everyone involved. I am happy to be able to showcase this film on a global stage at Cannes. I look forward to showing audiences the strength and force of 'Hopeless' that I felt when I first read the script."'

Hong also expressed gratitude for the invitation, saying, "I would like to thank everyone involved for this invitation, and I am grateful for the chance to show our film at Cannes. It was an honor to be able to participate in 'Hopeless.'"

Director Kim shared his excitement for the opportunity, stating that it was "a dream [he] had from his childhood" to be part of the world's largest film festival. "Hopeless" is set to screen in the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes International Film Festival and will be released in Korea in the second half of this year.
