In a highly anticipated move, BTS' V is poised to make his solo debut with the release of his first official album, "Layover," set to drop this Friday at 1 p.m. The singer, known for his captivating stage presence and unique vocal prowess, expressed his eagerness to share "all of Kim Tae-hyung the person" through this milestone project.
"I do feel a heavy sense of pressure to be the last of the group members to start solo, but I'm ready to show you everything I've prepared for one by one," he stated in a press release. Dispensing with his stage name, V went on to describe the album as a reflection of his true self, saying, "The album shows all the charms of Kim Tae-hyung, the person. The key points would be that it's different, it's surprising and relaxed."
"Layover" is a six-track EP featuring the lead track "Slow Dancing," accompanied by "Rainy Days," "Blue," "Love Me Again," "For Us," and a piano remix of "Slow Dancing." The album is a seamless blend of pop and R&B, infused with V's signature artistic flair, as confirmed by his agency, BigHit Music.
Taking the creative reins for "Layover," Min Hee-jin, the producer of girl group NewJeans and CEO of its agency ADOR, meticulously crafted the song, choreography, design, and overall concept of the album. Her approach centers on capturing the natural candor that defines V as an artist, as emphasized by BigHit Music.
Notably, "Layover" boasts five music videos, with advance releases for "Rainy Days" and "Love Me Again." The music video for "Slow Dancing" will premiere alongside the album, promising a visual feast for fans.
Leading up to the album launch, three of V's previously unreleased tracks garnered significant attention and climbed the charts. "Winter Bear" (2019), "Snow Flower (feat. Peakboy)" (2020), and "Scenery" (2021), originally available on SoundCloud, were made available on paid music streaming services last month. They swiftly topped iTunes charts in over 20 countries worldwide, further building anticipation for V's solo project.
In support of "Layover," V is set to engage in various promotional activities, including appearances on television shows such as the popular SBS variety program "Running Man," scheduled for this Sunday.
