In a rapid ascent on the global streaming scene, Netflix's latest action series, "Song of the Bandits," swiftly climbed to the coveted No. 2 position on the streaming platform's non-English Global Top 10 TV chart shortly after its release.

Released on September 22, the series made an impressive debut, securing the second spot on the weekly chart for the week spanning from September 25 to October 1. This success extended beyond South Korea, finding itself within the top 10 rankings in 26 countries, including Brazil, Greece, and Hong Kong, as reported by the streaming service. In its home country, "Song of the Bandits" dominated as the No. 1 series on Netflix during the same week.

The action-packed narrative of "Song of the Bandits" unfolds around the character Lee Yoon, portrayed by Kim Nam-gil. Lee Yoon, a former Japanese soldier, transforms into a bandit in a bid to protect his homeland and people amidst the tumultuous backdrop of Gando, a lawless Chinese region, during the Japanese occupation in the 1920s.

Kim Nam-gil, a seasoned actor, made his debut in 1999 and achieved widespread recognition through his role in the MBC historical drama "Queen Seondeok of Silla" (2009). Notable for his versatile performances, Kim has further solidified his reputation through roles in works such as "The Pirates" (2014), a captivating blend of action, adventure, and comedy, as well as "Through the Darkness" (2022), where he portrayed a criminal behavior profiler.

"Song of the Bandits" captivates audiences with its unique amalgamation of western and Joseon-style elements, earning an impressive average rating of 4.5 out of 5 on Rotten Tomatoes. The rapid global traction and positive reception signify the series' promising trajectory, promising a thrilling viewing experience for audiences worldwide.
