Haechan of NCT, a member of the K-pop group, has been fined for smoking an e-cigarette inside a building, as confirmed by label SM Entertainment on Thursday. The incident came to light through a video clip showing NCT127 members practicing dance in a studio, where Haechan was seen using an e-cigarette device. The label acknowledged the violation and announced that Haechan will be paying the customary fine of 100,000 won ($76).

In response to the incident, SM Entertainment issued an apology for Haechan's "negligent behavior" and took measures to edit out the smoking scene from the video. The label previously announced on Wednesday that Haechan would be taking some time off due to severe tonsillitis. The artist returned to Seoul from Japan last week, cutting short the band's activities, after experiencing a high fever and aches, leading to the diagnosis of the medical condition.
