[Kiaf SEOUL] Artist Koichiro Azuma ART FRONT GALLERY/ Bicycle runs by a motor
Q. We’re at the Japanese Art Front Gallery in KIAF Seoul.
We would like to introduce you to a very special piece of work with an artist Koichiro Azuma.
A. Koichiro Azuma
Hi, I'm Koichiro Azuma. I'm an artist and I practice installation art using bicycles and metals.
At the KIAF, I am currently exhibiting a work that is over 5meters tall. Your kind interest and support would be very appreciated.
Q. Could you briefly explain your art work on exhibition at KIAF Seoul?
A. The work you see is a bicycle that runs on its own.
Bicycle, by Japanese definition, refers to “self working vehicle.”
I wanted to create a bike that orbits and circles around by itself following the definition of the diction.
Q. Thank you very much. We wish you the best of the results.
A. Ms. Junghee Hong, could you please briefly introduce the gallery and explain the direction you pursued when curating an exhibition at KIAF Seoul?
A. The ART FRONT GALLERY is located near Tokyo Shibuya-ku.
The artists we have selected for this exhibition consists of both well known artists in Japan as well as new artists who may not be so familiar in Korea.
We hope Koreans visitors and collectors from abroad all enjoy our curated work and their time at the KIAF Seoul.
Thank you for your kind cooperation.
Q. Do you find any differences in atmosphere of the KIAF this year as compared to few years back?
A. I think the passion and love for art has grown over the years.
I can see an increase in the number of collectors and it is very overwhelming to see how just people in general seems to be in love with the art.
Thank you, we wish you the best of luck
Thank you.
