Suk-nam Yoon, a Korean artist, is a comprehensive artist who performs various creative activities such as painting, sculpture, and installation art on the subject of the life, history, and experience of Korean women.
She is the 23rd recipient of the 'Lee In-sung Art Award', an art award established in Daegu Metropolitan City to honor Lee In-sung, and is devoted to the subject matter of 'Women' in her work.
Yun used stories about her mother and herself as the source of her creation. Since then, the artist has expanded the creative theme to identity, life, and women's history, and has recently focused on reinterpreting women in history.
She also conveys the significance of life, humanity, and caring life through 1,025 pieces of sculpture inspired by the life of an elderly woman who cared for 1,025 stray dogs.
The artist recently devoted herself to portraits of female independence activists in Korean history and presented 20 new colored portraits at her recent solo exhibition.
The exhibition to appreciate Yun's sculptures, installation art, portraits and drawings will be held until Dec. 31 at the Daegu Art Museum in Daegu.
