Her artistic exploration began during her studies in Germany, where she initially painted park scenery before delving into reinterpreting Joseon Dynasty true view landscape paintings by artists like Jeong Seon and Gim Hongdo. This journey has led Zuyoung to continually question the dichotomies of original versus reinterpretation, traditional versus modern, and abstract versus real in landscape representation.
Zuyoung's oeuvre expanded in 1996 as she reinterpreted the works of Jeong Seon and Gim Hongdo over seven years. Notable exhibitions include her 1999 showcase at the Gumho Museum of Art, which focused on her reinterpretations of Gim Hongdo's Gahakjeong. Later exhibitions like "partes extra partes" at Gallery Hyundai in 2013 and "Sage Visage Paysage" in 2017 further explored her fascination with mountains and their changing perspectives.
