In an upcoming crime comedy series set to premiere on tvN, acclaimed actress Chun Woo-hee takes on the role of Lee Ro-woom, a con artist with a knack for revenge. "Delightfully Deceitful" follows Ro-woom as she masterminds various schemes, adopting different personas along the way. From a prisoner to a career woman, the actress promises viewers a rollercoaster of transformations.

During an online press conference held last Thursday, Chun Woo-hee shared her excitement for the role and the intriguing irony of the plot. She expressed her fascination with the clash between a cold-hearted con artist and an overly empathetic lawyer. The tension resulting from this paradox, she believed, added a layer of attractiveness to the series. Additionally, she highlighted the caper-like elements within the crime genre and the opportunity to showcase a wide range of appearances through colorful transformations.

Directed by Lee Soo-hyun, known for her work on the 2020 crime drama "Find Me in Your Memory" and the 2022 rom-com "Shooting Star," "Delightfully Deceitful" promises a blend of genres, including crime and comedy. The series is written by newcomer Han Woo-joo, adding fresh perspectives to the production.

Director Lee Soo-hyun explained that categorizing the series into a single genre was a challenging task due to its intricate storytelling. While the story revolves around cooperation and scheming, each character possesses a unique backstory, and their relationships are intertwined. Furthermore, the execution of these schemes is infused with elements of black comedy. Lee Soo-hyun expressed her hopes that viewers would anticipate the growth of each character within their complex relationships.

Taking on the role of Lee Ro-woom presented a significant challenge for Chun Woo-hee. However, the actress expressed satisfaction with the cast members and her collaborative experience. She emphasized the importance of making her character relatable to viewers, as initially, without understanding Ro-woom's backstory, she might come across as a villain. Chun Woo-hee believed that once the audience grasped the depths of Ro-woom's desire for revenge, they would find catharsis in her journey.

Chun Woo-hee also spoke about the chemistry between her character and the passionate lawyer, Han Moo-young, portrayed by Kim Dong-wook. As the two struggle to understand each other, their interactions are often characterized by lively banter. Throughout the series, Ro-woom undergoes a transformative process of healing and learning to empathize. The actress expressed a sense of comfort during a particular scene where the characters engage in a simple conversation, expressing her desire for more such moments.

"Delightfully Deceitful" is scheduled to air on Mondays and Tuesdays at 8:50 p.m., offering audiences an entertaining blend of crime, comedy, and unexpected twists. With the remarkable performances of Chun Woo-hee and Kim Dong-wook, viewers can expect a gripping narrative of revenge and an unlikely alliance against wrongdoers.
