The three-day music and culture event, hosted by Korea's leading card company at its cultural complex in Itaewon of Yongsan-gu, Seoul, celebrated the singer's eagerly awaited return to live performances.
Lee's electrifying show at Hyundai Card's Understage building, a pivotal part of the cultural complex, encompassed around a dozen songs, spanning her illustrious 25-year music career. The night resonated with her iconic dance hits, including "10 Minutes," "U-Go-Girl," "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang," and "Mr. Big." Additionally, her dedicated fans were treated to unexpected numbers from her early days, such as "Blue Rain" from her Fin.K.L group debut single and "One Two Three N'Four" from her first solo LP.
A poignant moment of the night came as Lee performed her 2008 song "Barbershop's Daughter" for the first time onstage. Penned by Lee herself and based on her personal story, she expressed that the song "resonates the deepest in my heart even until now."
In a display of generosity and mentorship, Lee shared the stage with emerging talents in the music industry, introducing young musicians such as female rappers Goeunisback and KittiB, and singer-producer Babylon. Notably, Babylon, one of Lee's closest musician friends, captivated the audience with "Call Me Anytime," a song produced by Lee.
Lee's captivating 1 1/2-hour show marked the splendid finale of this year's Da Vinci Motel event, attracting a total of around 3,000 attendees. Launched in 2019, Da Vinci Motel aims to provide a platform for entertainment and inspiration, drawing its name from 1960s California motor hotels where travelers found respite during long drives.
This year's event featured a diverse lineup of approximately 40 high-profile speakers across various fields, including art, academia, business, technology, and science. Collaborating with US tech giant Meta, the event incorporated cutting-edge mixed reality and augmented reality experiences and exhibitions, further enriching the cultural extravaganza.
