Seo shared that through the character's journey of life, death, and multiple reincarnations, Yi-jae gains a profound understanding of time and life. He expressed hope that these insights resonate with viewers.
Despite limited screen time in the series so far, Seo expressed his deep respect and love for the original webtoon, "Yi-jae Will Die Soon" (2019-20), on which the show is based.
The actor noted personal parallels between himself and Yi-jae, citing past struggles during his aspiring singer days. Seo, who debuted through the vocal audition program "Superstar K" in 2009, transitioned to acting in 2012 with roles in dramas like "Love Rain" and gained widespread recognition with his lead role in "Reply 1997."
Seo In-guk's portrayal of Yi-jae is described as reflective of his own past experiences, showcasing a more grumpy and insecure side compared to the web series.
As "Death's Game" unfolds, Seo teased that viewers can expect a more mature Yi-jae in the upcoming episodes, set to be released on the streaming platform Tving on January 5. The character evolves to comprehend the reasons behind the challenging predicament imposed by Death.
