“Avatar: The Way of Water” occupied the Korean box office in two days of release

The movie “Avatar: The Way of Water” by James Cameron, which was released in Korea on the 14th, rose to No. 1 at the Korea box office within two days of its release.
 

According to the Integrated Korean Film Network System on the 16th, “Avatar: The Way of Water” attracted 291,485 spectators to the theater on the 15th alone.

 

If this trend continues, it is expected that it will break the record of the highest number of viewings for a foreign film set by its previous film (2009).

The original Avatar, which was released in Korea in 2009, attracted 13,486,963 audiences to the cinema at the time and made over $100 million in sales in Korea alone. It caused the Avatar Syndrome with graphics implemented with innovative technology. 

A summary of the 2022-film's story and important cast members are as follows:

Set more than a decade after the events of the 2009-film,“Avatar: The Way of Water” begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure. 

 

Directed by James Cameron and produced by Cameron and Jon Landau, the film stars Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Edie Falco, Jemaine Clement and Kate Winslet.

Meanwhile, a total of 651,489 people were attracted to movie theaters in the two days after Avatar in 2022 was released.
