BTS's Suga to Commence Mandatory Military Service: Fans Eagerly Await His Return

The BTS Member's Service Begins on September 22, Anticipating a Reunion in 2025

Suga, a prominent member of the globally acclaimed K-pop sensation BTS, is set to embark on his mandatory military service, as confirmed by the group's agency, BigHit Music, on Sunday. Suga's service will commence on September 22, an event that will not be accompanied by any official activities or fan visits, as outlined by BigHit Music on their fan community platform, Weverse.

Given a previous shoulder injury, Suga is expected to fulfill his mandatory service as a social service agent, a common alternative for individuals with physical evaluations that deem them unfit for active duty. South Korea mandates military service of approximately one and a half years for all eligible young men, unless they are considered unsuitable for service.

Those with a lower grade on their physical evaluation can substitute active duty by serving as social service agents at public institutions for 21 months, supplemented by a three-week basic military training at an Army boot camp before or during their service period. Suga's initiation into service follows fellow BTS members Jin and J-Hope, who commenced their respective mandatory services in December and April.

During a recent Weverse livestream, Suga reassured fans, saying, "It’s nothing to cry about, guys. We will meet in 2025." Despite expressing regret at his limited activities in the coming years, he affirmed their reunion promise for 2025, urging fans not to worry excessively.

BigHit Music also issued a cautionary statement, advising fans against participating in "unauthorized tours or package products" that violate copyright regulations. As Suga embarks on this new chapter, the BTS fandom eagerly anticipates his return and looks forward to their collective reunion in 2025.
