Released in October of the previous year, "The Astronaut" is a collaborative effort between Jin and the British rock band Coldplay. The single made an impact on charts, entering Billboard’s Hot 100 at No. 51 and securing the No. 61 spot on the UK’s Official Singles Chart. Jin performed the song live for the first time as a special guest during Coldplay’s concert in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Despite Jin's ongoing military duty since December of the preceding year, he expressed gratitude on Monday to fans for birthday wishes and revealed that he has achieved the rank of sergeant.
