In a groundbreaking milestone for fan engagement in the music industry, HYBE's innovative fan platform applications, Weverse and Weverse Shop, have soared past an extraordinary 100 million downloads globally, the entertainment agency announced on Thursday.
This unprecedented achievement marks the first time a fan platform application has achieved such staggering numbers. Furthermore, Weverse reported an impressive monthly active user count of 9.80 million, nearly reaching the remarkable milestone of 10 million users utilizing the app each month.
Initially introduced in June 2019 as HYBE's fan community platform for their globally acclaimed boy band BTS, Weverse has rapidly evolved alongside Weverse Shop, a dedicated platform for purchasing K-pop merchandise. Over time, the platform expanded its functionality, becoming a comprehensive all-in-one hub for K-pop enthusiasts worldwide. It provides a range of features, including fan communities, exclusive and official content, and much more.
Crucially, Weverse is not limited to HYBE artists alone. It welcomes both HYBE and non-HYBE artists, fostering inclusivity in the K-pop industry. Notable acts such as NewJeans, Seventeen, Enhypen, YG Entertainment's Blackpink, and Treasure have joined the platform. Earlier this year, even SM Entertainment announced their transition from a proprietary fan club application to Weverse, cementing the platform's status as the largest fan platform in the world of K-pop.
"We will continue to introduce new services to enhance global users' communication with artists and provide fans with enjoyable platform features," declared Choi Joon-won, President of Weverse Company.
