ARARIO GALLERY Presents First-Generation Korean Female Performance Artist's Work

ARARIO GALLERY is set to participate in Art Busan 2023, showcasing the bold paintings of JUNG Kangja, a pioneering female performance artist from Korea. Known for her provocative works that challenge traditional ideas and gender politics, JUNG Kangja's art generates social dialogue through various formative experiments. The gallery will feature her paintings depicting the landscapes, cultures, and people she has encountered during her travels around the world since the 1980s.

JUNG Kangja's paintings provide a unique perspective on her personal experiences in Central and Latin America, Africa, and other remote parts of the world. Her solo exhibitions at prestigious venues such as Whitechapel Gallery in London and ARARIO MUSEUM in SPACE in Seoul have garnered international attention. She is also set to participate in a group exhibition at MMCA in Seoul that will travel to the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York and the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles. In addition, a solo exhibition is scheduled for November at ARARIO GALLERY Shanghai in China.


JUNG Kangja's paintings offer a powerful commentary on societal issues and are not to be missed at Art Busan 2023. Her thought-provoking works continue to challenge conventions and inspire dialogue on gender, politics, and culture.

ARARIO GALLERY is set to captivate art enthusiasts at Art Busan 2023 with an exciting lineup of artists. The gallery will showcase works from DON Sunpil's solo exhibition 'Kai·Ju·People', which recently received critical acclaim at the '1st Seoul Arts Awards'. DON Sunpil's art delves into the intriguing social phenomenon of 'Otaku' culture, exploring shared aesthetic senses beyond simple hobbies or affections. His research on action figures encompasses diverse themes, from the love for these figures to the culture and narratives that shaped them, as well as their artistic quality.

Another featured artist is NOH Sangho, whose works blur the boundaries between the digital and real world. His renowned series 'THE GREAT CHAPBOOK', along with new works from the 'Holy' series recently exhibited at ARARIO GALLERY Seoul, will also be on display at Art Busan 2023.

ARARIO GALLERY's booth will also showcase a stellar lineup of global artists who have been garnering attention from collectors worldwide. These include LEE Jinju, GWON Osang, Asami KIYOKAWA, AHN Jisan, WON Seoung Won, SIM Raejung, JUN Jangyeun, CHA Hyeon-Wook, CHOI Byungso, Kohei NAWA, and the newly represented LEE Jeongbae.
