The architecture firm Isin + Co has achieved a remarkable triple victory at the German Design Awards this year, with all three of their submitted projects receiving recognition in their respective categories. The awards were selected from more than 3,900 competition entries from 57 countries worldwide, with the jury praising the firm's combination of clear design, sustainable approaches, and high functionality.
Among the award-winning projects is the Digital Innovation Space at Aalen University campus, which was recently officially opened to the public. This six-story circular building features a light-filled atrium that creates open areas specifically designed for research and collaboration. According to the jury, the building impressed with its charismatic form, flexible spatial concepts, and a design that successfully combines transparency with identity.
The second recognized project consists of duplex houses in Leonberg-Warmbronn, featuring an ensemble of six residential buildings constructed using wood-frame construction methods. The development is strategically positioned at the edge of the town and seamlessly integrates into the surrounding landscape. The jury specifically highlighted the harmonious integration into the natural environment and the open space concept that successfully brings together private residential comfort with vibrant neighborhood living.
The third award went to the interior design of Volksbank Fellbach, which features a concept characterized by warm tones and natural materials. The design skillfully combines open areas with discreet consultation zones, creating a balanced banking environment. The project received particular recognition for its thoughtful handling of existing building structure and its strong focus on sustainability principles.
Cemal Isin, representing the firm, expressed satisfaction with the recognition, stating: "With these awards, we see our standards confirmed in designing architecture as a holistic experience – innovative, sustainable, and identity-creating." The triple recognition positions Isin + Co as a leading voice in contemporary German architecture, particularly in projects that balance functionality with environmental responsibility.
