K-Pop Pioneer Kangta Launches New Music Label SMArt Under SM Entertainment

SM Entertainment veteran Kangta has announced the launch of SMArt, a new music label aimed at reinterpreting K-pop as a global cultural content platform.The label, which Kangta will lead as chief producer, plans to explore diverse musical genres and create innovative soundscapes. SMArt's inaugural artist will be actor and musician Im Si-wan, with plans to release his first solo album in December and conduct a global fan tour in early next year.Kangta, recognized as a first-generation K-pop idol, has been expanding his role beyond performance into creative leadership. Having served as an SM non-registered director and creative director since 2014, he previously led SMASHHIT, a music publishing subsidiary of SM Entertainment.The new label aims to provide unique producing solutions and present fresh artistic interpretations of K-pop. By focusing on discovering and nurturing emerging talent, SMArt represents Kangta's continued commitment to musical innovation after three decades in the industry.With this strategic move, Kangta continues to demonstrate his versatility as both a musician and industry executive, positioning SMArt as a potentially significant new platform in the evolving K-pop landscape.
