Nayeon from Twice has been selected as the special pop version artist for Beyond, the main theme song of Disney’s upcoming animated film Moana 2. Walt Disney Company Korea announced on November 15 that Nayeon would be lending her voice to this anticipated track, bringing a fresh interpretation to the original song.
The song Beyond embodies Moana’s spirit of bravery and determination as she faces her fears of the turbulent sea and commits to moving forward. The track reflects Moana’s inner resolve, as she overcomes her apprehensions and embraces her journey, resonating with the themes of courage and self-belief.
In the recently released teaser video, Nayeon appears against a stunning sunset backdrop, symbolizing her strength and confidence. With her powerful and emotive vocals, she sings a portion of the song, passionately declaring, “Even if I don’t return, I believe in myself. I am Moana.” This moment captures the essence of Moana’s unbreakable spirit, as interpreted through Nayeon’s distinctive voice.
Nayeon's participation in Moana 2 follows a prestigious legacy of K-pop collaborations with Disney. Previous artists include Taeyeon, who performed for Frozen 2; NewJeans’ Danielle, who lent her voice to The Little Mermaid; and IVE’s Ahn Yu Jin, who performed for Wish. Nayeon’s collaboration continues this tradition, further bridging K-pop with iconic Disney soundtracks.
Moana 2 is set to premiere in theaters on November 27, the same day Nayeon’s rendition of Beyond will be officially released. The powerful anthem is expected to resonate with audiences of all ages, adding an extra layer of depth to the film’s adventurous storyline.
Nayeon's involvement in Moana 2 reflects her evolving artistry and influence, as she brings the character of Moana to life through her vocals. This collaboration underscores the growing global impact of K-pop, as Korean artists continue to contribute to beloved franchises and create memorable music moments on an international stage.
