Actress Uie is set to expand her artistic range as she steps onto the theater stage for the first time. Uie will star in the play Our Little Sister, which runs from January 15 to March 23, 2025, at the Seoul Arts Center’s Jayu Small Theater.

The play is adapted from the 2015 Japanese film of the same name by acclaimed director Hirokazu Kore-eda, which was originally based on Akimi Yoshida’s manga. It tells the heartfelt story of three sisters—Sachi, Yoshino, and Chika—who embrace their half-sister Suzu as part of their family following their estranged father’s death. The production debuted last year to a positive reception, and the upcoming run is highly anticipated.

Uie takes on the role of Yoshino, the spirited and charming second sister. Yoshino is a free-spirited yet dependable character who supports her older sister Sachi, while bringing her own energy and vitality to the family. Uie is expected to bring Yoshino’s warmth and dynamic personality to life on stage.

This marks a significant milestone in Uie’s career, as she transitions from television and film to theater. Uie recently led the KBS daily drama Live Your Own Life, where her strong performance anchored the show. In addition to her acting roles, she has showcased her versatility through appearances on variety programs such as SBS Jungle’s Feast and tvN Iron Girls.

A production representative expressed confidence in Uie’s ability to embody the role of Yoshino, emphasizing her natural charm and emotional depth as key assets to the play. The upcoming stage debut signals another exciting chapter for Uie, who continues to challenge herself and grow as an artist.

The play Our Little Sister promises to offer a heartwarming exploration of family bonds, reconciliation, and love, making it a must-see production in the new year.
