VCHA, pronounced as bichwo, is a collaborative effort between JYP Entertainment and U.S. music giant Republic Records. The group comprises the six finalists from the "A2K" (America2Korea) girl group audition program conducted by the two agencies from July to September. Members Lexi, Camila, Savanna, Kendall, KG, and Kaylee, all hailing from the United States, represent the name VCHA, derived from the Korean word meaning "shine a light." The group's moniker was coined by JYP Entertainment's founder and chief producer, Park Jin-young.
Prior to their official debut, VCHA released two singles, namely "Sevit (NEW LIGHT)" in September and "Ready for the World" in December.
