Choi Youngran will participate in the 19th Pink Art Fair Seoul Summer 2026, scheduled for August 28–30 at JW Marriott Hotel Seoul.
Represented by Sophron Gallery, Choi will present her work in room 1616 on the hotel’s 16th floor. The display, organised around the theme “The Aesthetics of Curves,” comprises paintings that use altered human forms to examine love, relationships and emotional exchange.
The figures are depicted with elongated necks, connected shoulders and bodies positioned face-to-face or leaning against one another. Rather than reproducing realistic proportions, Choi emphasises curved lines and the relationships formed between the figures.
“Affection,” completed in 2025, is an oil painting measuring 100×100cm. Other works from the same year include “Garden of Light,” measuring 112×162cm, and “Landscape of Our Home,” measuring 116.8×80.3cm.
The paintings combine pink, purple, red and turquoise in layered fields of color. Figures and backgrounds are not clearly separated, with bodily outlines extending into surrounding areas of the canvas.
Choi has consistently used the human body, particularly the female figure, as a central subject. The works presented at the fair move away from individual portraiture and use modified bodies and color to address love, longing and emotional relationships.
Pink Art Fair Seoul is a hotel-based art fair that uses guest rooms rather than a conventional exhibition hall. This year’s edition will occupy the 16th floor of JW Marriott Hotel Seoul and feature contemporary paintings, sculptures and other works presented by participating galleries and artists.
The fair will open from 5–8 p.m. on August 28. General viewing hours on August 29 and 30 are 11 a.m.–7 p.m.
